After School Counselor

Here is a little background on our company and program. Our company titled, CT Progressive USA, inc., is opening a new after school program for elementary and junior high school students. Our company will service students in grades 1-8 who require after school care and tutoring. Our mission is to provide academic tutoring in various academic subjects and enrichment activities to promote creativity, as well as critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Mentor elementary and junior high age children
Ensure the health, safety and well being of children in the program by providing close supervision of all activities
Supervise, participate in, and administer recreational activities for children
Work cooperatively with professional staff, instructors, and other departments
Create and maintain daily lessons plans, attendance, and emergency information
Assist children with homework and guide students in their academic growth
Communicate with families, on a weekly basis, about their children’s strengths and areas needing attention
Actively participate in all training sessions, designated meetings and special events
Actively greet parents each day upon drop-off and pick-up times
Maintain confidentiality regarding staff, children, and families as well as management and operations
Record detailed logs pertaining to tutoring activities
Assist in training new employees
Serve as a receptionist on occasion, such as answering phone calls, filing paperwork, and greeting parents
Organize significant paperwork for the program's director
Market/sell our program on occasion to parents and community
Skills and Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required (education or related preferred)
Previous experience working with children
Exercise mature judgment and sound decision making
Must possess a love for children and an ability to relate well with them, their families, and staff
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must have a positive attitude and work ethic
Must have the skills necessary to engage and work with others from diverse backgrounds
Maintain a non-judgmental attitude toward youth and their families
Assess and respond to a crisis in a prompt and effective collaborative manner
Patience and the ability to motivate and correct behavioral issues
Multitasking in fast-paced situations
Energy and the ability to lead a room full of kids
Access to reliable transportation both to and from work
Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $15.00 /hour
